Statement on Confirmed COVID-19 case of an Employee at AGD HQ

Yangon, Myanmar, 7th September 2020 – AGD Bank confirms that one employee working at the AGD head office has been infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The employee was announced positive by MOHS on September 7th 2020 as a result of contact with Case-1016 (Case – 1016 was announced COVID 19 positive by MOHS on September 3rd 2020).

 

During these difficult times, AGD Bank is fully dedicated to support Myanmar’s fight against the virus with the wellbeing of our customers and employees as the utmost priority. We are rendering necessary support to the employee who has tested positive and her family during this period.

AGD has taken necessary measures and safeguards since Case-1016 has been announced as COVID-19 positive by MOHS on September 3rd 2020. Since employee is reported to be in contact with case number 1016, AGD has put the said employee in home quarantine since 30th August 2020 to ensure that the employee has made minimal contact with other AGD employees. 

The employee is a back-office staff member and therefore, no customer contact has been made to our knowledge. Furthermore, we identified all other employees in close contact and have instructed them to work from home starting from 7thSeptember 2020.

As additional sanitation measures, the whole building which includes common areas such as lifts, toilets, stairs, office ferries has been regularly deep cleaned and disinfected since March 21st, 2020 in accordance with MOHS guidelines. We will continue to carry out our sanitation, social distancing, and work from home programs to put the best fight up against the novel coronavirus.

Since 14th March, other precautionary measures that have been put in place include:

● Social distancing measures in both head office and branches

● Temperature screening to all customers and staffs at our office buildings and branches

● Ensuring the availability of protective equipment (i.e. hand sanitizers, face masks, hand gloves, and other barriers) to all front-line staffs at all branches and buildings

● Implementing knowledge sharing programs on Do’s and Don’ts amid COVID-19

● Cleaning and disinfection of our premises on a regular basis

We have activated our business continuity plans with employees working from home and at multiple locations for minimal disruption to bank operations.

AGD Bank will continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure the well-being of our employees, customers, partners and will follow diligently all the instructions from MOHS.
