Statement on AGD Bank Staff Members Recently Diagnosed with Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

(Yangon, 14th September 2020) – As Myanmar braces for the second wave of COVID-19 outbreak, there is no higher priority for AGD Bank than the safety of our customers, our partners, and our staff members.

 

As a responsible local organization, we would like to take this opportunity to address the situation regarding two AGD Bank staff members who were recently tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). Both individuals are currently undergoing treatment at Phaunggyi COVID-19 Medical Centre and are in stable condition.

 

Both individuals are back-office staff members, assigned at the Head Office in Yangon and as such we can confirm that neither person came into close contact with any AGD Bank customers in any way, within the last 14 days period.

 

They have no recent travel history to virus hotspots. However, through rigorous contact tracing efforts, that they discovered to have come into close contact with another positive case outside of work. They both were working from home since 7th September accoding to AGD Bank work from home arrangement.

 

The Work from Home arrangement is announced for AGD Bank staff members where 50% of the employees who are esstential to work from office in rotation basis and the rest of employess to entirely work from home.

 

On 13th September (yesterday), both individuals were tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) announced by MOHS, Ministry of Health and Sports. We have conducted contact tracing with other staff members and arranged hotel quarantine for those who were in contact with the two COVID-19 positive staff members (before work from home arrangement, 7th September 2020)

 

Our hearts and prayers go out to the staff members who were diagnosed with COVID-19 and we will be providing much-needed support to the patients and their families during this difficult period as they receive care and treatment necessary for a full recovery.

 

We are also in constant communication with the health authorities to support them with extensive contact tracing efforts.

Since March, we implemented provisions of our establishments thorough precautionary measures according to MOHS guidelines as part of our overall Business Continuity Plan. These measures outline specific steps AGD Bank takes to safeguard the health and well-being of customers and employees while ensuring the Company’s ability to maintain essential operations and continue to provide important services to our customers:

 

● Social distancing measures in both head office and branches.

● Temperature screening to all customers and staffs at our office buildings and branches.

● Ensuring the availability of protective equipment (i.e. hand sanitizers, face masks, hand gloves, and other barriers) to all front-line staff members at all branches and buildings.

● Implementing knowledge sharing programs on Dos and Don’ts amid COVID-19.

● Cleaning and disinfection of our premises, ferries and office cars regularly.

 

To address the changing needs of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and positive cases of our staff members, we imposed wide-ranging preventive measures to mitigate the spread of the disease. Most of the Head Office Staff Members to work from home since 7th September while we carried out the disinfection of our workplaces. Starting today, 100% of our staff members from the Head Office location will work from home and we arranged other office locations for few essential staff members who require to work from office.

 

We have also implemented precautionary measures and instructed all essential staff members working on the premises and at branch locations to follow strict medical protocols as mandated by the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS).

 

We will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation as well as the condition of our staff members who are receiving treatment. We will meticulously follow the health guidelines mandated by MOHS and coordinate within the organization to ensure we’re taking necessary steps to mitigate any risks that may affect the health of our customers, our staff members and members of our communities.

With rigorous internal policies and procedures, we ensure our safe business operations for our customers are properly managed during these difficult times.
