Myanmar’s Best Digital Bank, Asia Green Development Bank (AGD Bank), headquartered in Yangon, has launched an initiative to plant more trees across Myanmar, to help restore forests and fight climate change. The campaign has been started in association with the Department of Forestry.

The campaign was flagged off on 20 Jun 2021 and tree planting was undertaken over successive weekends in June.  This campaign will continue throughout July as several similar events are planned for this month. Trees were planted by our enthusiastic staffs and their families (Region Representation - Yangon Region 35 persons, Upper Region 80 persons, Middle Region 50 persons, and Lower Region 42 persons).

AGD Bank Chief Executive U Htoo Htet Tayza says, “the project in Myanmar is all about community development and enabling people to care for trees and help support environmental restoration. AGD is committed to sustainability and green development, we’ve even reflected this commitment in our name – Asia Green Development Bank – and all our staff are encouraged to particulate in activities that contribute to a greener future for all.”
 
According to a 2018 study, deforestation is responsible for 24 million tons of CO2 emissions each year. And with climate change a significant threat to global growth, various studies have shown that it could impact the economy making millions more vulnerable to poverty. AGD Bank is committed to improving its environment and has many more initiatives like this planned this year and beyond.
